This film is an exploration of black culture both in the literal progression of the lead character Marcus and the development of the music. Inspirations for the jazz tracks come from the works of Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Stanley Clarke among others. Inspirations for the hip hop style come from the 90's rap scene including artists A Tribe Called Quest and Souls of Mischief among others. The score seeks to bring the audience into exploring black culture alongside Marcus throughout the film.
