Matt holds a deep passion for storytelling and creating immersive experiences for audiences. Fundamentally, film is about telling an effective and compelling story that emotionally impacts the viewer. Music is one of the most persuasive tools available in that process. It interacts with our experience differently than words or visuals, connecting the pieces of a narrative and helping communicate what may otherwise remain unspoken.

From a creative perspective, Matt approaches each project by first understanding the story, the people creating it, and what the music needs to accomplish. That direction can shape everything from the larger scope of a project to the smallest choices within a cue. Thematic writing, orchestration, instrumentation, recording, mixing, and mastering all contribute to how the audience ultimately experiences the music.

Effective music for picture also requires knowing when to lead and when to leave space. Matt develops musical textures that support dialogue, sound design, pacing, and the overall creative direction of a project rather than competing with them. Each decision works toward the same goal: helping the story communicate as clearly and emotionally as possible.

Matt carries that same approach throughout the production process. He enjoys taking an initial creative idea and developing it into a finished piece of music through composition, orchestration, collaboration, revision, and production. Working with directors, editors, musicians, engineers, and other creatives allows each project to develop its own musical identity while keeping the larger vision of the project consistent.

From a practical perspective, Matt has built a straightforward workflow designed to make the music-production process organized and easy to navigate. Projects can include masters, final mixes, stems, sheet music for live instrumentation, timestamps, cue information, and emotional or creative breakdowns that clearly communicate how the music functions within the project. Maintaining an organized process from the first creative conversations through final delivery allows more attention to remain where it belongs: on making the music as effective as possible.
